Florida Shiner Bass Fishing Report: March 2001 Low water conditions which has Okeechobee's bass bunched up in the canals, making them easier to catch, is really producing some good trophy bass results for my wild shiner guide fishing parties. These results would be better if it were not for the cold front and gale force wind conditions that the month of March hit us with. Trophy bass fishing outlook for the rest of the month and the month of April should be excellent!

MARCH 27 & 28, 2001Florida wild shiner bass fishing father and son anglers Anthony Lee Sr. and 5 1/2 year-old Anthony Jr. (Vero Beach, FL - e-mail: aclee64@aol.com) caught and released 15 bass up to 6 1/4 lbs during 2 half days (March 27 & 28, 2001) of wild shiner bass fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Little Anthony caught the 6 1/4 lb'er and a 4 lb'er as well as most of the 15 bass put in the boat. They fished the Harney Pond canal and Sportsman canal areas of Lake Okeechobee. MARCH 26 - 28, 2001Florida shiner bass fishing anglers Bruce Pope (Peoria, IL - e-mail: 102433.706@compuserve.com) and Brian Pope (Menlville, MO) caught and released about 50 bass that included a 8 lb. and 6 lb. 2oz. bass during 3 days of wild shiner bass fishing on March 26 - 28, 2001. Brian caught the 8 lb'er. Bruce got the 6 lb. 2oz. bass. They fished the Harney Pond canal and Sportsman canal areas of Lake Okeechobee. FLORIDA SHINER BASS FISHING REPORT: MARCH 17, 2001 Florida shiner bass fishing anglers Roy Dames (LaGrange, IL - e-mail: RoyDames@aol.com) and Jack Adams(Lockport, IL) caught and released 15 bass that included a 6 1/2 lb. and 6 lb. bass during one day of wild shiner bass fishing on March 17, 2001. MARCH 15 & 16, 2001Florida shiner bass fishing anglers father Mike Dunworth and 14 year-old son Alex (Holliston, MA - e-mail: Mickd2@aol.com) caught and released about 20 bass up to 3 1/2 lbs during 2 half days (March 15 & 16, 2001) of wild shiner bass fishing. MARCH 13 & 14, 2001
Florida shiner bass fishing anglers Ken Jackson (Montgomery, TX - e-mail: kjgj@mcia.com) and Sid Spencer (Saminole, OK) caught and released about 24 bass that included an 8 3/4 lb., 6 1/2 lb., two that were 6 1/4 lbs and a 6 lb. bass during 2 days of Florida wild shiner bass fishing with with Ron's Guide Service on March 13 & 14, 2001. Sid caught the 8 3/4 lb., 6 1/2 lb. and 6 1/4 lb. trophy bass. Ken caught a 6 1/4 and the 6 lb'er. These guys fished under "heavy wind" conditions during the 2 days they were here. MARCH 9 - 11, 2001Florida shiner bass fishing anglers John Lewis (Pittston, PA - e-mail: jrlewis@epix.net) and John Lewis, Jr.(Knightdale, NC) caught and released about 40 bass that included a 8 1/4 lb. and 7 1/2 lb. bass during 3 days of Florida wild shiner bass fishing with with Ron's Guide Service on March 9, 10 & 11, 2001. John Jr. caught both trophy bass. These guys fished under cold front and extremely "heavy wind" conditions during the 3 days they were here. Although they did not catch numbers they got the numbers in pounds that counted. Bass were caught in Harney Pond canal area of Lake Okeechobee. Florida wild shiner bass fishing couple James & Michelle Ellis (Summerset, NJ - e-mail: ellisiv@email.msn.com) caught and released about 15 bass that included a 6 1/4 lb. and 6 lb. bass during 2 half days of Florida wild shiner bass fishing with with Ron's Guide Service on March 11 & 12, 2001.
